Serving the Word: Lk 13: 22-30

Wednesday 30 October

Luke 13, 22-30
“Strive to enter by the narrow gate”.

This is what Jesus tells us in today’s gospel.
Something very different from what the criteria for our society today tells us. Thewelfare society, comfort, minimum effort, convenience …
Certainly, everything that may improve our quality of life we must see as coming from God, which, as a good Father, he loves us and cares for us. The bad thing is when we want to demean and decaffeinate the Gospel and adapt it to our whims and convenience.
If we remove “annoying pages” from the Gospel we will be left with just the cover, empty of content.
The Gospel is life and it is also demanding.
And, above all, in what costs us more which is our relationships with others.
It costs us forgiveness, free commitment, unconditional acceptance and so many other demands of the message of Jesus.
Try not to reduce the power of the New Wine that the Gospel brings us.
Good day.
