Serving the Word: Lk 13: 1-9

Saturday 26 October

Luke 13, 1-9:
“Then he said to the vinedresser:”Look here, for three years I have been coming to look for fruit on this fig tree and finding none.Cut it down. Why should it be taking up the ground?”.But the man replied:”Sir, leave it one more year and give me time to dig round it and manure it. It may bear fruit next year.If not, then you can cut it down”.

God does not get tired of giving us opportunities.
This must fill us with hope and confidence because we always have the possibility and opportunity to respond positively to the plan of God.
But something has to be done to grow and open ourselves up to the manure the Lord uses to move us forward for us to give good and many fruits. We need time to mature and bear fruit, and to be converted and change the mentality of the heart.
God always gives us opportunities so that our somewhat withered “fig tree” springs to life.
We’re going to take advantage of so many moments, so many people and so many circumstances that we are given to develop our capacity to respond, accept, commit and grow spiritually.
Be careful today not to fall into the temptation of conformism and mediocrity.
May you produce the mature fruit of good works.
Ask for it with total confidence from the Lord.
Good day.
