Serving the Word: Lk 12: 39-48

Wednesday 23 October

Luke 12, 39-48:
“You may be quite sure of this, that if the householder had known at what hour the burglar would come he would not have let anyone break through the wall of his house. You too must stand ready, because the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.

Follow the call of Jesus to be vigilant and be ready for his visit.
He has placed in our hands some gifts that are not to be saved but to be put in continuous activity and permanent service. We are servants who manage what is not ours, but we manage the part of estate that our Lord has entrusted to us.
In this gospel those are declared blessed and happy who are surprised by the Lord working, putting in all their effort and all their effort into building this new order of things that Jesus came to establish.
Work today and always to carry out this duty from the Lord.
Strive to bring your duty to a good conclusion.
Let this beatitude of Jesus be yours: “Blessed is the servant whom his master’s arrival finds him at his employment. I tell you truly, he will place him over everything he owns”.
Tomorrow we celebrate in the Church the feast of St. Anthony Mary Claret. He was that faithful and careful servant whom the Lord found working hard in his vineyard whenever he visited.
Good day.
