Serving the Word: Lk 11: 27-28

Luke 11, 27-28:
“Blessed is the womb that bore you, and the breasts you sucked.” But Jesus replied: “Still blessed are those who hear the Word of God and keep it”.

In the short gospel of today, the feast of the Virgin of Pilar, are enclosed two precious compliments to Mary.
The first comes out of the lips of a local woman. A compliment to Mary as the mother of Jesus: “Blessed is the womb that bore you, and the breasts you sucked.”
The second springs from the lips of Jesus himself: “Still blessed are those who hear the Word of God and keep it”.
Jesus proclaims Mary blessed not because she is his mother, but because she listens and fulfils the Word of God.
Mary’s life is marked by listening, internalizing and being faithful in fulfilling what God asks.
We can also be blessed like Mary if we let the Word of God to guide our lives and carry it out throughout our lives all that God is asking of us.
We will be blessed because in the will of God for each one of us will be born and reborn our joy and our happiness.
May you be very happy and blessed today.
Congratulations to all those who today are celebrating your feast day today.
Good day.
