Serving the Word: Lk 1: 5-25

THURSDAY DECEMBER 19

Luke 1, 5-25:
“He will go before the Lord, with the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and to the disobedient, to the wisdom of the just, preparing for the Lord a people well disposed.

Advent advances and each day we get closer to the birth of Jesus.
And, again, the figure of John the Baptist.
In order for God’s power and initiative to be more palpably manifested, John the Baptist will be born of an old and barren woman. Because for God nothing is impossible.
Zechariah doubts, his faith is put to the test. He doubts and bomes dumb until the child John is born. Then what the angel predicts is realized: “You will be filled with joy and many will rejoice at his birth.
The birth of John already prefigures the birth of Jesus.
How many things are also announced to you by the Lord. And it is possible that you may also question and doubt yourself like Zechariah.
Ask the Lord today that your faith may grow more and more every day. May you always be ready to listen to Him and may the Lord always find in you the disposition that He expects.
You too will be filled with joy.
Good day.
