Serving the Word: Lk 1: 39-45

SATURDAY 21 DECEMBER

Luke 1, 39-45:
“Mary arose and hastened to the mountain to a city in Judah; she entered the house of Zechariah and greeted Elizabeth…. Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit and, raising her voice, exclaimed, “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb! Who am I that the mother of my Lord should visit me?”.

We return to meditate on the Gospel with which we prayed a few days ago.

Upon receiving the angel’s message, Mary sets out on her way. This is how Mary embarks on a journey of faith and trust in the Lord.
When she enters the house of Zechariah, she will be proclaimed blessed because she has believed.
Mary presents herself to us today as the model of a believer.
In a few days we will contemplate God born as a child in Bethlehem.
It takes a good measure of faith to adore God in the crying of a newborn baby, in the diapers of a baby, in a little baby attached to the breast of a young mother, in a little child lying in a manger…
And God is there. It is Emmanuel, God with us.
Accompany and let yourself be accompanied today by Mary. May she teach you to believe and also teach you to see God in what is small and humble, even though he is wrapped in swaddling clothes.
Ask her to help you prepare for Christmas by focusing on the essential and putting the secondary in second place. The important thing is the Child, not the diapers.
Good day.
