Serving the Word: John 4: 43-54

MONDAY 23RD MARCH

John 4, 43-54:
“The man believed in the word of Jesus and went on his way.

The functionary of today’s Gospel is marked by three verbs: INSIST, BELIEVE and SET OUT ON THE WAY.
These are three verbs which define very well a follower of Jesus when he approaches Jesus to ask him for something.

+ INSIST: Jesus always listens, but for our part we have to be “heavy”. Like the child who wants to get something from his parents. Don’t get tired of asking.

+ BELIEVE: trust in the power of Jesus. He keeps saying about each of us “you are healed”. We only have to believe it as the official of this gospel believed.

+ BELIEVE IN JESUS AS SAVIOUR is to go out and leave behind that which we deceitfully believe saves us when in fact it enslaves us.
TO SET OUT is to not stop on our journey of faith.
TO SET ON THE WAY is to walk from strength to strength until we reach the goal.
Examine today the conjugation of these verbs in your life:
– How insistent are you in your prayer of petition?
– How do you think?
– How are you continually walking and moving forward in your life of faith?

Good day.
