FRIDAY, MAY 29
John 21, 15-19:
“Lord, you know everything, you know that I love you.
Three times Peter denied Jesus. Three times he repeated that he did not know him. Fear was stronger than love for the Master.
Three times Peter confessed his love for Jesus. Three times Peter needs to say that he loves the Lord for the Lord to give him the keys to the Kingdom.
Peter wept bitterly over his threefold denial of Jesus. But in the midst of these denials, love was never absent.
That is why Peter wept and Judas did not cry after the betrayal.
You and I have denied Jesus many times. But the important thing is that the embers of our love for Jesus never disappear from our hearts.
If that fire of love exists, it will burn away all denial and will continually cherish our option for Jesus and our option to follow him.
Cultivate as much as you can the love of the Master.
Repeat many times today Peter’s humble prayer: “Lord, you know everything, you know that I love you”.
Good day.
