Serving the Word: John 15: 9-17

THURSDAY, MAY 14

John 15, 9-17:
“This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.

The only thing that saves us is the love of God. We are not saved by our merits or by our strength.
The only thing that saves us is the tenderness of a Father who loves us madly and is always with his arms open for welcome, forgiveness and mercy.
Certainly, our collaboration is also necessary and essential.
The love of the Father must be the measure of the love of the children.
Very clearly Jesus repeats this to us in today’s Gospel: “as I have loved you.
This love is translated in the concrete, in the day-to-day, in the most ordinary of our lives.
Most of us will not be called to perform great heroics. But it takes more heroic courage to love in every moment than to love only on great occasions.
Besides, we will not know how to love on the big occasions if we do not know how to love in the most insignificant part of life.
Practice today to love in the particular and in the small occasions that throughout the day are presented to you.
Good day.
