Serving the Word: 8th September

TUESDAY 8 SEPTEMBER

Matthew 1, 1-16.18-23:
“And Jacob begat Joseph, the husband of Mary, of whom Jesus was born, who is called Christ.

Today we celebrate the birth of the Virgin Mary, the woman from whom Jesus was born.
And the Gospel we read wants to show us that Jesus is human. Like every person, he has an ancestry. Generations follow one another until they reach the most direct ancestors of Jesus.
We congratulate Mary and thank God for having chosen her as his mother and for having given her to us as our mother.
We rejoice because she is like the dawn that announces the sun and brings us the new day.
Through her Jesus comes to us and we come to Jesus.
She is the Mother of the Church and the best model of faith and of following Jesus.
Repeat with her today that YES which came from her heart and her lips accepting God’s will and carrying it out with all fidelity throughout her life.
Today we celebrate Mary under many titles: Grace, Star, Crowned, …and many others.
Congratulations to all those of you who bear one of the names of Mary.
Good day.
