Serving the Word: 8th November

TUESDAY 8th NOVEMBER 2022

Luke 17, 7-10:

“… We have done what we ought to have done”.

As the humans that we are, it usually happens to us that when we do a good deed, when we spend our time in favour of others, when we give any kind of alms… we want to be put on a podium and to be awarded a medal and, if possible, a gold medal.

It was Jesus himself who told us “let not your left hand know what your right hand is doing”.

And it is also Jesus today who tells us: ‘when you have done all that is commanded, say: we are poor unprofitable servants; we have done what we ought to have done’.

Service is the hallmark of the follower of Jesus. No expectation of medals or laurels. Simply feel that we have done what we had to do as poor and humble servants of the Gospel.

Ask the Lord today for the capacity to love and to serve without measure and without expecting anything in return.

Good day to you.
