Serving the Word: 7th June

Mark 12, 18-27:

“You are mistaken because you do not understand the Scripture or the power of God…. For when the dead are raised, neither shall men marry, nor shall women be given in marriage; they shall be as angels from heaven…. He is not a God of the dead, but of the living…. You are greatly mistaken”.

In today’s gospel we meet the Sadducees, who denied the resurrection of those who die.

Their perspective did not go beyond this life. Their future ended at death.

We also encounter this Sadducean position today. And sometimes in very disguised ways. We become attached to so many things that end in death that we lose sight of our future resurrection. We also lose sight of what is really important.

It is always good that we broaden our vision and that we know how to see with clearly everything that is relative, knowing how to value everything that does not end with death but that with it is consolidated and fulfilled.

Knowing that we are not children of death because our God is not a God of the dead but a God of the living.

Good day to you.
