Serving the Word: 6th October

Luke 10, 13-16

“Woe to you, O Chorazin; woe to you, O Bethsaida; if the same miracles had been done in Tyre and Sidon as in you, they would have been converted long ago”.

How many gifts we are constantly receiving from the Lord! It would be good for you to spend a few minutes today running through your mind just a few of these gifts and naming them. You will realise that they are countless.

But don’t stop at this enumeration. Let your heart be filled with feelings as you contemplate so many gifts.

First of all, let gratitude flow from your heart. It is well bred to be grateful. Let it also give way to asking for forgiveness for not having recognised or acknowledged the gift of so many gifts.

And, also, let petition come forth. Ask that all these gifts may bear fruit in you.

Ask that the gifts you continually receive from God may also be gifts to others. Keep in mind that you are God’s gift to your brothers and sisters and that each of your brothers and sisters is God’s gift to you.

Good day to you.
