TUESDAY 6th JUNE 2023
Mark 12, 13-17:
“What belongs to Caesar, pay Caesar, and what belongs to God, give to God.”
How many times have I heard many people say these or similar phrases:
– “I don’t go to Mass because I don’t have time”.
– I don’t have time to pray because I have to study…”.
And the issue is not a question of studying or having to do other things. The issue is that we are not willing to give to God what belongs to God.
Many times we give God what we have too much of and we live centred on ourselves. But God is not at the centre of our lives. We think we do God a favour when we perform some religious act.
Today Jesus invites you to think about whether in your life you are “giving to Caesar what is Caesar’s and to God what is God’s”.
Most often, we don’t give God even a tenth of what is due to him. And he is due everything.
Today, at least, thank God for every moment of life he is giving you and for so many other things he is giving you.
