MAUNDY THURSDAY 6th APRIL 2023
John 13, 1-15:
“For if I then, your Master and Lord, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet. I have given you an example, so that what I have done for you, you also may do”.
We begin the Lord’s Passover. Today, Maundy Thursday, we are invited to consider four fundamental aspects of our Christian life:
1) Institution of the Eucharist: participate today in the evening Mass of the Lord’s Supper. Try also to spend some time with the Lord present at the “Altar of Repose”.
2) The Washing of the Feet: the follower of Jesus is a person in service. He is a person kneeling before others and with the towel always girded.
3) Jesus gives us the New Commandment, which is “his commandment”: “love one another as I have loved you”.
4) Institution of the Priesthood: pray much today for all priests and commend them to the Lord.
