Serving the Word: 5th October

MONDAY 5 OCTOBER

Matthew 7, 7-11:
“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you; for he who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.

Today’s Gospel invites us to ask, to seek and to knock.
These are three key attitudes to keep in mind when we begin to pray.
Before God we are always very poor. We are always the little children who expect help and protection from their daddy or mummy.
In God we seek what we long for. He is the Father who can fulfil our deepest desires.
Without realizing it, as St. Augustine says, our heart is restless until it rests in Him.
“Father” or “mother” is the invocation that always springs from the heart as a call filled with love and trust.
Put yourself in the presence of your Father God. Ask, seek and call.
You will receive, you will find and you will be attended to.
Good day.
