Serving the Word: 5th October

Matthew 7, 7-11:

“Ask and it will be given to you, seek and you will find, knock and it will be opened to you; for he who asks receives, he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.”

Today’s Gospel invites us to ask, to seek and to knock.

These are three key attitudes to bear in mind when we begin to pray.

Before God we are always very poor. We are always little children waiting for help and protection from our parent.

We look to God for what we long for. He is the Father who can fulfil our deepest desires.

Without realising it, as St. Augustine says, our heart is restless until it rests in Him.

“Father” or “mother” is the invocation that always springs from the heart as a call full of affection and trust.

Place yourself in the presence of your Father God. Ask, seek and knock.

You will receive, you will find and you will be attended to.

Good day to you.
