Luke 4, 16-30
“Today this scripture which you have just heard is fulfilled”.
What a good programme of life, but of a life of faith, to begin a course!
If you do not have a spiritual life plan, today’s Gospel offers you a rule of life and a very concrete spiritual plan. Since your baptism, the Spirit of the Lord has been upon you and this same Spirit has consecrated you to God. Today, keep very firmly in your heart the words that Jesus kept in his heart. As they were for him, so they are for you: “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me. He has sent me to bring good news to the poor. To proclaim liberty to the captives. And to give sight to the blind. To set at liberty those who are oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favour”. This was Jesus’ rule of life and this is your best rule of life. Feel truly sent to carry out this programme. Write it down where you can remember it often. And that after remembering, you can say, “This scripture I just heard is being fulfilled”.
