Serving the Word: 4th November

FRIDAY 4th NOVEMBER 2022

Luke 16, 1-8:

“Surely the children of this world are more crafty with their own people than the children of light”.

Apart from the other things you may think of as you read today’s Gospel, it strikes you that this rich man’s steward does all the things he can to his own people.

This rich man’s steward goes out of his way to make good friends among the needy.

What this steward does raises a question in me that I share with you: do I use the personal resources that I have – because God has given them to me – with those who need them?

We all have many assets that we should learn to use and manage for the benefit of others, using all our astuteness to do so.  At least, using all the cunning and creativity that we use for many other things.

The astuteness and creativity of many organisations – PROCLADE, for example – that knock on many doors so that love and creativity can be used for the benefit of others is to be praised.

And the astuteness and creativity of so many people who put their skills at the service of those who suffer most is also to be praised.

Today, present all these people and associations to the Lord and ask him to give you, too, energy and initiative in the promotion of those most in need.

Good day to you.
