Serving the Word: 4th December

FRIDAY 4 DECEMBER 2020

Matthew 9, 27-31:

“Two blind men followed Jesus, crying out, ‘Have mercy on us, Son of David!

How many times can each one of us be those poor blind people who are on the side of the road begging for alms!

The blind in today’s Gospel cry out loudly to Jesus as they follow him on the road.

While darkness reigned in his eyes, the light of faith shone in his heart.  And this light ends up drowning the darkness and even illuminating the eyes.

In the midst of darkness, needs and helplessness, cry out loudly to Jesus too.

He is the light that shines in the darkness and illuminates every one who comes into this world. Darkness can never overcome his light.

And do not cry out just so that he can illuminate your own eyes. Shout loudly so that it illuminates so many dark situations in which so many people live and which exist in our world at this time of pandemic.

You, who receive the light of Christ, be a light for the world and for others.

Good day.
