Serving the Word: 30th September

SATURDAY 30th SEPTEMBER 2023

Luke 9, 43b-45

“But they did not understand this language; it was so difficult for them that they could not make sense of it. And they were afraid to ask him about it”.

How difficult it is sometimes to understand the language of Jesus! Especially when Jesus speaks to us of suffering, passion and death.

We find it difficult to understand the language of the Cross, or rather, we do not want to understand the language of the Cross. We are afraid of this language.

We do not realise that Jesus is not only my Saviour in my moments of joy and glory. He is also my Saviour in the painful mysteries of my life and he is also the Saviour in the painful mysteries of so many people in the world.

Spend some time today reviewing the sorrowful mysteries you may be experiencing and those that other brothers and sisters of yours are experiencing.

Place them before the Lord and ask that you may understand the language of the Cross. Ask for the salvation of Jesus in all these painful mysteries, yours and those of others.

Good day to you.
