Serving the Word: 2nd January

MONDAY 2nd JANUARY 2022

John 1, 19-28:

“When the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask John, “Who are you? What do you say about yourself?” He answered, “I am the voice crying in the wilderness, ‘Make straight the way of the Lord'”.

John the Baptist is clearly aware of who he is and what his mission is.

He defines himself as the voice that announces the coming and the presence of Jesus.

It would be good that in this context of Christmas, between parties, meetings, meals, lights and entertainment, you also personally ask yourself “WHO ARE YOU?” and “WHAT ARE YOU SAYING ABOUT YOURSELF?”.

It would be good for you to ask yourself who you are as a Christian and what you say about yourself also as a Christian.

In your life, in the way you act, in everything you say, in your relationships with others, in your service, in your availability, in your concern for the weakest do you show that you are also the voice that cries out to Jesus and the voice that cries out to others to prepare the way to meet Him?

Today we also need many “John the Baptists” who are clear about their identity and their mission.

Good day to you.
