Serving the Word: 2nd December

WEDNESDAY 2 DECEMBER 2020

Matthew 15, 29-37:

“Jesus went up the mountain and sat down. Many people came to him, carrying the lame, blind, disabled, deaf and dumb, and many others; they laid them at his feet and he healed them… He took the seven loaves and the two fishes, said the thanksgiving, broke them and gave them to the disciples, and the disciples to the people”.

The mountain is considered in the Bible as a place of meeting with God.

Today we read in the Gospel that Jesus climbs the mountain and sits on it.

And on that mountain, Jesus meets the people and reaches out to them in two ways:

1: HEALING: the lame, blind people, disabled people, deaf-mutes and many others come to Jesus. And everyone who meets him is cured.

2: FEEDING: He broke the loaves, gave them to the disciples, and the disciples to the people. And they all ate their fill.

During this time of Advent you too should strive to meet Jesus more forcefully:

1: Climb the mountain of prayer, and of the sacrament of forgiveness (confession). Present to Jesus your illnesses, your deafness, your blindness… Throw yourself at his feet. He will heal you. You will feel welcomed, loved and forgiven.

2: Climb the mountain of the Eucharist too. Satisfy yourself with the life of Jesus. Join him in the bread that is his body. You will be filled with eternal life.

3: SHARE with others: your time, your goods, your joy…

Good day.
