Serving the Word: 28th May

SATURDAY 28 MAY 2022

John 16, 23b-28:

“Truly I say to you, if you ask anything of the Father in my name he will give it to you”.

How many times have I heard it said that God does not listen to the prayers we address to him because he does not grant us what we ask for.

Yet Jesus promised that whatever we ask the Father in his name he will grant us.

Perhaps we are missing this requirement in our petitions: to ask in Jesus’ name.

To ask in the name of Jesus is to ask for that which is in line with his Gospel, because sometimes we ask for things that may go in other directions.

Always ask for the gift of the Holy Spirit. He knows what you need. He will know how to give you what is right for you at every moment of your life.

And he will also know how to give that which at every moment in the lives of others is also convenient for them.

Ask that the Father’s will be done in you and in all creatures, because your good Father always wants the best for you and for all.

Pray today, and many times and also very slowly, the prayer of the Our Father, which is the prayer that Jesus taught us.

Good day.
