Serving the Word: 28th December

MONDAY 28 DECEMBER 2020

Matthew 2, 13-18:

“When Herod saw that he had been outwitted by the wise men, he was angry and ordered all the children two years old and under to be killed in Bethlehem and the surrounding area, calculating the time from what he had found out from the wise men.

Today we celebrate the memory and the feast of the Holy Innocents. Little children who were violently torn from life simply because they were about Jesus’ age.

Today too is a day to remember so many innocents who are violently torn from life.  We remember those countless innocents who are victims of irrational hatred and any other kind of violence even before they are born.

We ask the Lord to protect so many innocent people who are beaten, abused, defenceless, marginalized and physically or morally wounded: children, young people, men, the elderly, women

We also renew our commitment to seek peace and life in abundance for every human being.

Good day.
