Serving the Word: 28th August

Matthew 25, 1-13:
“…And they began to trim their lamps.

Jesus invites us again today to be vigilant.
And he comes to tell us that to be vigilant we must take care of ourselves spiritually. We need the “oil” that keeps the flame of vigilance alive.
Sometimes we want the flame of our life of faith and our spiritual life to be kept alive by simply pouring water on it and even other “products” with which it cannot possibly burn.
Examine how you prepare the lamp of your Christian life and also examine what “oil” your lamp needs to give light so that you can see clearly.
Jesus gives you some “oil-tools”: prayer, the Eucharist, his Word, the Sacrament of Reconciliation…
“… And they began to prepare their lamps”.
Prepare your “lamp” today too.
Have a very good day in the presence of the Lord.
Good day.
