Serving the Word: 27th September

MONDAY 27th SEPTEMBER 2021

Luke 9, 46-50:

“Whoever welcomes this child in my name welcomes me; and whoever welcomes me welcomes the one who sent me. The least among you is the most important”.

The disciples continue with their obsession: they are very concerned about the first places, about the limelight, about being important as they understand it.

That is why Jesus again gives them his lessons on humility. And he puts a child by his side, who in Jesus’ time was a person with no rights and no relevance.

Jesus makes it very clear who he is looking out for: for the least, for the weakest, for those who need it most.

See to it that Jesus also places you at his side, not because you are big, important or powerful, but because you are modest, humble and small. Only in this way will you be able to be at Jesus’ side.

Good day.
