Serving the Word: 27th March

SATURDAY 27th MARCH 2021

John 11, 45-57:

“It is better for you that one man should die for the people…. And that day they decided to put him to death”.

With each passing day, the confrontation between Jesus and the rulers of the people becomes more and more tense.

The chief priests and the Pharisees cannot stand Jesus’ putting the person above the law, his speaking of God as a good Father, his breaking the Sabbath to care for the needy… and much else besides.

Jesus’ life and teachings are not in line with their lives and teachings and so they decide to put him to death.

This is also what we sometimes do: we take Jesus out of the equation when his Gospel is not in line with our interests. When we take from the Gospel what suits us and eliminate what we don’t like or what it demands from us that we are not willing to give.

Choose and boldly opt for Jesus. He brings you peace, joy and happiness.

Stop for a while today and ask yourself how you will spend this coming Holy Week.

Good day.
