Serving the Word: 27th December

WEDNESDAY 27th DECEMBER 2023

John 20, 1a. 2-8

“On the first day of the week… the disciple who had first come to the tomb went in; he saw and believed”.

Today the liturgy remembers the Apostle John, the one who “laid his head on the Lord’s breast and knew the divine secrets, the first to believe that Jesus had risen, the one who revealed to us the mysterious depths of God made man. May Jesus’ beloved disciple help us to understand deeply the meaning of the Christmas we are celebrating; may we too, through his intercession, become true friends and confidants of the Lord, and may we experience his presence in the depths of our hearts, so that we are truly in communion with him and with the Father, and therefore with our brothers and sisters, and may we be convinced and convincing proclaimers of what we have “seen” and “touched” of the Word of Life. In this way we will be able to say that we are celebrating Christmas well.

Good day to you.
