Serving the Word: 26th November

THURSDAY 26th NOVEMBER

Luke 21, 20-28:

“Rise up, lift up your heads: your deliverance is at hand”.

From the time we begin to hear the first news of the day, until we retire to rest after turning off the television, we are hearing and reading “bad news”.

And yet, we Christians are the people of the Good News.

We have experienced, even in the midst of struggles and difficulties, the mercy and love of a God who liberates and saves.

Pope Francis says in the “Joy of the Gospel”: “No one can take away from us the dignity that this infinite and unshakable love gives us. He allows us to raise our heads and start over, with a tenderness that never disappoints us and can always bring us back to joy”.

We must hold our heads up high without falling into useless pessimisms that block us and prevent all hope of doing good.

We must work tirelessly to transform our society.

We cannot tire of doing the impossible every day to do our bit to improve the world by bringing closer and closer the liberation that the Lord brings us.

Good day.
