Serving the Word: 26th May

WEDNESDAY 26th MAY 2021

Mark 10, 32-45:

“Whoever wishes to be great, let him be your servant, and whoever wishes to be first, let him be slave of all. For the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many”.

Often in our society we categorise the importance of others by their dress, their mitres and hats, their shoes and ties.

The most common uniform and attire for a Christian should be a TOWEL or an APRON.

Jesus girded himself with the towel to say and to show us that he was the servant of all.

He himself said: “I am in your midst as one who serves”.

The apron is also the uniform of service: it is worn by servants and also by mothers and grandmothers when they are serving the family.

Don’t forget today and always to keep your towel tightly wrapped and your apron well stained.

That will mean that you are doing a lot of serving.

A towel that is always clean or an apron that does not get dirty means that you do little service.

Good day.
