Serving the Word: 26th December

TUESDAY 26th DECEMBER 2023

Matthew 10, 17-22

“Do not worry about what you will say or how you will say it: in due time it will be suggested to you what you should say. It is not you who will speak, but the spirit of your Father will speak for you”.

To follow Jesus and to walk with him also means to share his sufferings, to be persecuted, to give one’s life as he did to defend and extend his Kingdom of justice, love and peace.

We are to be witnesses of the God who becomes incarnate even in the midst of difficulties and difficult times, in which we must not lose our smile and must remain faithful to the last consequences. Many Christians, our brothers and sisters, are living their following of Jesus in this way today.

Jesus is born in you and in every person. Announce him with courage, with confidence, with faith and with your deeds. Even if those words and deeds lead you to pain and suffering.

So proclaimed St. Stephen, the first Christian martyr whose feast we celebrate today.

Good day to you.
