John 17, 11b-19:
“May they be one as we are one…. I do not ask that you withdraw them from the world, but that you keep them from the world…. As you sent me into the world, so I am sending them into the world”.
We are approaching the great solemnity of Pentecost.
Pentecost is the celebration of the coming of the Holy Spirit upon the whole Church.
That Spirit that one day invaded the hearts and lives of the apostles and disciples of Jesus is the same Spirit that continues to permeate the hearts of all of us today so that we may be witnesses to the risen Jesus.
Jesus, in the power of the Spirit, sends us out into the world to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus by our lives, deeds and words.
Ask today for the power of the Spirit to be his witness where your life is normally going on.
Ask for the gifts of the Spirit.
Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful and kindle in them the fire of your love.
