Serving the Word: 21st October

SATURDAY 21st OCTOBER 2023

Luke 12, 8-12

“Whoever speaks against the Son of Man may be forgiven, but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven”.

To blaspheme against the Holy Spirit is simply to refuse to be saved by God, to refuse his love, his affection and his forgiveness. It is to refuse to be forgiven.

Pope St. John Paul II defined this blasphemy as follows: “It is not the act of offending the Holy Spirit with words; it is the refusal to accept the salvation that God offers humanity through the Holy Spirit, who acts by virtue of the sacrifice of the cross. If Jesus says that blasphemy against the Holy Spirit cannot be forgiven, it is because of a radical refusal to be converted”.

Ask the Holy Spirit himself to lead you always by him. He will teach you at every moment what to say and what to do.

Good day to you.
