Serving the Word: 20th March

MONDAY 20th MARCH 2023

Matthew 1:16,18-21,24:

“Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary your wife, for the child in her is from the Holy Spirit. She will bear a son, and you are to name him Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins”.

Joseph appears on the Gospel scene today as he always appears: open to the ways of the Lord.

Joseph is the man who sees, believes, suffers, keeps silent, waits and obeys.

Different pathways would pass through his mind, but when he saw the path that God marked out for him, because he needed it, he did not hesitate to commit himself and accept his will with all the consequences. He assumed in faith that God was at work in his life and in the life of Mary, and he lives this mysterious reality with gratitude.

Ask the Lord, through the intercession of St. Joseph, that you may always accept his plans and realise them every day in your life.

Today we celebrate the feast of St. Joseph, husband of the Virgin Mary. Congratulations to all of you who bear this name.

Good day to you.
