Serving the Word: 1st November

WEDNESDAY 1st NOVEMBER 2023

Matthew 5, 1-12

“Rejoice and be glad, for your reward will be great in heaven”.

The Solemnity of All Saints is one of the most endearing and joyful feasts in the whole Christian calendar. We celebrate all those countless Christians who passed through this world embodying the beatitudes that Jesus proclaims to us today. We celebrate all our brothers and sisters who were poor in spirit, who wept, who suffered, who hungered and thirsted for justice, who were merciful and pure of heart, who worked for peace and who were persecuted simply because they were Christians. The anonymous saints who are not on the altars.

Surely we know many of them because they have lived with us, humbly collaborating in the building of the Kingdom of God, without giving themselves any importance, but loving with the effort of their hands and the joy of their hearts.

Commend yourself today to all these saints. They are our brothers and sisters who have gone before us to the common home of our Father, who continue to love us and who also continue on our journey of following Jesus.

Good day to you.
