Serving the Word: 19th October

THURSDAY 19th OCTOBER 2023

Luke 11, 47-54

“Woe to you, teachers of the law, who have kept the key of knowledge, you who have not entered and have shut out those who were trying to enter!

We often confuse sincerity with unburdening and even with the very lack of education and charity. In the name of sincerity we can say, write and do wrong to other people. Because in the end what we are trying to do is not to build up but to hurt and destroy.

Jesus’ sincerity is constructive. With courage he unmasks all those actions that oppose or hinder the Father’s plan of salvation for humanity.

Jesus does not want to hurt any of those who listen to him, but he does want to cure them of their blindness and their hypocrisy and lies. That is why he speaks very clearly to those who praise God with their tongue but whose heart is as hard as a rock.

Ask the Lord today for true sincerity of heart so that you may know how to denounce without wounding anything that opposes the Kingdom of God.

Good day to you.
