Serving the Word: 19th November

SATURDAY 19th NOVEMBER 2022

Luke 20, 27-40:

“He is not a God of the dead, but of the living; for to him all are alive”.

What a joy it is to hear, at the end of the liturgical year, these words from the lips of Jesus!

We are surrounded by indifference, we are immersed in a world of violence. We are bombarded with news of deaths, tragedies, wars, genocides, slaughter of innocents …. It seems that everything speaks to us of death.

Jesus always fills us with hope. In him, we have the certainty of our future resurrection. With him life has triumphed. Death has no power over him. Jesus, our God, is not a God of the dead, he is a God of the living.

Life is assured. He himself said that he is the resurrection and the life. And he also said that whoever believes in him will not die forever.

As Christians and followers of Jesus, we can never worship death but must always celebrate life.

Never enter into the wheel of death! Never enter into anything that leads to death! Our God is not a God of the dead, but a God of the living!

Live the joy of life that Jesus gives us!

Good day to you.
