Serving the Word: 18th September

FRIDAY 18TH SEPTEMBER

Luke 8:1-3:
“Jesus went from town to town and from village to village, proclaiming and announcing the Good News of the Kingdom of God, accompanied by the Twelve, and by some women, who had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities.

Today, with social networks, there seems to be competition to see who has more groups, more friends on facebook and more followers. Whether it makes a difference whether you really know them or not.
Jesus surrounds himself with a small group of people with whom it is important to know each other, to live together, to share life and faith.
In this nucleus there are also a few women who collaborate in his mission.
We know the treatment that Jesus gives to women, how he tries to include them in a society where men are in charge and women are reduced to a lower level, confined to the home and domestic chores.
The women who accompany Jesus remind us of many women today who continue to give the best of themselves to serve the Lord and to announce His Word through tenderness, dedication, courage, and by journeying every day in a community where they are absolutely indispensable in the evangelizing mission.
Thank you, Lord, for so many wise and modest women, humble and prophetic, servants with an evangelical spirit, with whom you enrich your Church.
Good day.
