Serving the Word: 18th July

MONDAY 18th JULY 2022

Matthew 12, 38-42:

“Here is one who is more than Jonah… here is one who is more than Solomon”.

The contemporaries of Jesus did not know how to perceive the love of God incarnated in Jesus. They asked for signs to see in Jesus that love of God made flesh. They were unable to see God’s love in the deeds and words of Jesus.

We are immersed in God’s love without realising it. With a little thought we can see signs of God’s love all the time and everywhere. We can see signs of his goodness, his mercy, his love, his care, his patience, his forgiveness…

As long as we are attentive, we can feel and sense God’s presence at our side. But it is possible that the senses of the spirit are dulled and we do not know how to grasp all these signs, as happened to Jesus’ contemporaries, those scribes and Pharisees who, blind to the deeds and words of Jesus, asked for signs and evidence.

Ask the Holy Spirit today to revive in you the awareness of your spirit with which you can appreciate and respond to so many manifestations of the presence of God’s love in you and in all creatures.

Good day.
