Serving the Word: 17th September

SATURDAY 17th SEPTEMBER 2022

Luke 8, 4-15:

“The sower went out to sow his seed. As he sowed it, some of it fell by the wayside…. Some of it fell on stony ground…. Some fell among thistles….. And some fell on good soil, and when it sprang up, it bore fruit a hundredfold. He who has ears to hear, let him hear,” he exclaimed.

Daily the Lord goes out to sow in the field of our hearts.

And daily, too, it is good to think about what kind of soil his seed falls on.

Today is a good day for you to examine the kind of soil your heart has:

– If you are trodden and hardened soil,

– Whether the stones abound in it excessively,

– If weeds grow in it to such an extent that they choke out everything that sprouts up.

– Or if, finally, it is good and well-fertilised soil in which every seed that is placed in it sprouts, grows and bears fruit.

The passage of this Gospel ends by saying: “He who has ears to hear, let him hear”.

Ask the Lord for the ears and the strength to hear, listen, accept and put his Word into practice.

Good day.
