Serving the Word: 17th February

Mark 8, 34-9,1:

“If anyone would save his life, he will lose it; but whoever loses it for my sake will find it. What good is it for anyone to gain the whole world if they ruin their own life?”.

The question that Jesus addresses today was applied to themselves by many saints and radically changed their lives.

St. Anthony Mary Claret was one of them. He tells us in his Autobiography:

“In the midst of all this turmoil of things, while I was listening to Holy Mass, I remembered having read as a child those words of the Gospel: “What does it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses his soul?

“This statement made a deep impression on me. It was for me an arrow that pierced my heart. I thought and pondered what I would do, but I did not succeed”.

Ask yourself this question today and try to act accordingly.

Good day to you.
