Serving the Word: 15th March

TUESDAY 15th MARCH 2022

Matthew 23, 1-12:

“Whoever wishes to be first among you will be your servant…Whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted.”

In one way or another, we can all see ourselves reflected in today’s gospel because we all like to be served rather than serve others.

We find it difficult to “kneel” before others and prefer to have them bend their knee before us.

The word “service” is very much in our heads. We use it for everything.

And it is always good to appear as if we are spending our lives in service to others.

But, although it is a word that is very much in our heads, we have to work to get it into our hearts and also into our hands and feet.

Let us ask the Lord to make us consistent and humble in our service.

May we always feel what we think and do what we feel without ever believing ourselves superior to others.

May the Lord make us always feel that we are the servants of all our brothers and sisters and help us also to transfer this feeling to our hearts, our hands and our feet.

Good day.
