Serving the Word: 11th October

Luke 11, 37-41:

“You Pharisees, you clean the outside of the cup and the platter, while inside you overflow with robbery and wickedness…. Give alms from what is inside, and you will have everything clean”.

We often live by outward appearances.

We are concerned about our image, about what can be seen externally. Just think about how we take care of our external appearance when we have our photograph taken: we pay attention to our hairstyle, our look, our smile, our posture….

And yet, how we neglect our inner world, which is really where good or bad deeds come from.

Don’t try to live in front of the gallery because you expose yourself to live in a continuous falsehood. What good does it do you if others think you are good, supportive, upright, sincere… if your inner self is bad and contaminated?

Because if your inner self is bad, sooner or later you will end up contaminated.

Try to have a clean heart because then you will be happy: “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God”.

“Give alms from within and you will have everything clean”.

Good day to you.
