Serving the Word: 10th September

FRIDAY 10th SEPTEMBER 2021

Luke 6, 39-42:

“Why do you notice the speck in your brother’s eye, but do not notice the plank in your own eye? How can you say to your brother, ‘Brother, let me take the speck out of your eye’ without noticing the plank in your own eye? You hypocrite! First take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly how to take the speck out of your brother’s eye.”

We cannot think of ourselves as teachers or specialists in the faith or in the behaviour of our brothers and sisters.

Nor can we give lessons to others without first looking at our own life.

Jesus, who knows well the way human beings act and what lies within them, invites us today to review our own life in order to detect the “beams” which, although it may seem a lie, we are unable to discover in ourselves, but which we see very clearly in the eyes of others.

He asks the Lord today for a generous, clear and positive vision to discover all the good and positive things that are certainly present in others.

And praise the greatness of God for all the good that he has placed in each of the people around you.

Judge with humility and charity in the situations that come your way today.

Good day.
