Serving the Word: 10th November

TUESDAY 10 NOVEMBER

Luke 17, 7-10:
“So are you: when you have done all that is commanded, say, ‘We are poor servants; we have done what we ought to have done.

As human beings, it often happens to us that when we do a good deed, when we spend our time in favour of others, when we give any kind of alms… we want to be put on the podium and have our medal and, if possible, a gold one, hung around our neck.
It was Jesus himself who told us that “your left hand should not know what your right hand is doing.
He is also the one who tells us today: “When you have done all that you have been told to do, say: we are poor servants who have done what we had to do.
Service is the seal of the follower of Jesus, without expecting medals or laurels.
Whenever we do good, we must rejoice simply because we have done what we had to do as poor and humble servants of the Gospel.
Ask the Lord today for the ability to love and serve without measure and without expecting anything in return. Good day.
