“The Bible says that who finds a friend finds a treasure”. With these words Pope Francis invites us to pray for social friendship in this month of July.
As he points out, “one of the great gifts that life gives us is friendship. To be able to count on friends in good times, and also in bad times, is a gift from God. Wouldn’t it be great to go beyond groups of friends and build the social friendship so necessary for living together well? To look for friends instead of enemies, to understand each other instead of fighting, to get out of polarisation”.
We pray to reach out and listen to the other person in order to work together for the common good. And as the Pope concludes, let us share this message “with your friends and also, why not, with those who are not friends”.
