Holy Family Day: cradle of the vocation to love

We commemorate Holy Family Day, which is a celebration that takes place on the first Sunday after Christmas Day and before New Year’s Day in most parts of the world. So this year this feast takes place today, 30 December, as Christmas fell on a Sunday and so will the arrival of the new year.

We join in Pope Francis’ words on this feast: “Every day, in the family, we must learn to listen to each other and to understand each other. To walk together, to face conflicts and difficulties. We must listen to each other and not blame each other for our mistakes. Make peace”.

The motto of the Spanish Episcopal Conference also alludes to this, “The family, cradle of the vocation to love”.
