Feast of the Presentation of the Lord and World Day for Consecrated Life

On 2 February, Feast of the Presentation of the Lord or Feast of Candlemas, the Church also celebrates the World Day for Consecrated Life, instituted by Pope St. John Paul II in 1997 and which this year bears the theme ‘Walking in Hope’.

We pray for all our brothers and sisters and thank God for the gift of consecrated life, which is a response to the personal encounter with God, which becomes sending and proclamation, and we place everything in the Heart of Mary.

God continues to call us to consecrate our lives in the different expressions which complement and enrich each other, and which are above all a gift to the Church. Let us also honour this day and continue to be “light of the nations”.
