Serving the Word: Mt 6: 7-15

Matthew 6, 7-15:
“You should pray like this: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be thy Name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we have forgiven those who are in debt to us . And do not put us to the test but save us from the evil one”.

You can pray by praying. But it could be that we pray without praying.
Sometimes we repeat words and more words by rote without realizing what each word means.
Jesus advises us today that in our prayer we not use many words.
He encourages us to approach the Father with great confidence, invoking him simply and feeling we are his children.
He also teaches us the words that express the deep feelings of all authentic Christian prayer: the Our Father. Praying with the Our Father is to put us into the presence of God as Father, feeling like his needful children and also feeling in brotherhood with every human being, children of the Father just like me.
Pray the Our Father today slowly tasting and savouring every phrase and each word.
Good day.
